FROM THE BEGINNING
Say hello to Rebecca’s first roast from Zentveld’s Coffee way back in 1993.
Around the time Zentveld’s began roasting coffee, there was a growing demand for truly local grown arabica coffee in Byron Bay to be supplied in fine guesthouses around the Northern Rivers NSW, so Rebecca dedicated herself to produce a medium roast that showcased the natural sweetness of our local grown coffee.
At the time, it was a purposed filter roast more specifically for plunger / filter that you could find in local business’s across the Northern Rivers, and in the Ballina Byron Airport Lounge welcoming people to the region.
Over the years we’ve seen cafes trending more towards more acidic medium roasts for espresso, so if you do like acidity in your espresso, Matilda may give you that bright espresso you are familiar with at your favourite cafe.
Ever wondered what locally grown coffee tastes like? We recommend Matilda if you prefer plunger / filter black coffee, and want to taste the best Byron Bay has to offer.
Our 200g taster box is the perfect starter to make sure you love it or a great gift for someone else.
We recommend 500g for the home barista to ensure enough coffee to last a week or 2 and remain fresh before the next order.
